What Cheddar Gallery said about Tony's consultation work.
"When employing the services of a consultant that you do not previously know or has not come via a recommendation you are always worried in business
that they will not really understand your business fully and will often tell you things that you had already worked out yourself partly because of course
you are telling them things that concern you and you have come to the same conclusion that they come to when you present them with this problem. Now
clearly there is always going to be an element of that as that is a natural progression of thought on both sides. It has its uses in as far as much it confirms the things you need to do and ensure you do the things you think you should do but too many times that is all it is and can be a costly process to discover what you already knew.
However, when Tony came to look at our business, whilst he listened to 'our story' and responded accordingly, he thought outside of all our triumphs
and woes and looked at what HE thought we ought to do irrespective of our stand point. He looked at the layout of the shop, any promotions we had, spoke
to our customers and looked at how we interacted with those customers.
He came up with some new ideas of products and services we could offer specifically to tourists, some ideas of how we could present our window differently and he advised on tactical promotions all of which aimed at getting people in the shop. Without knowing about the art world he came up with some ideas, which I had been wanting to do but hadn't had time and yet I hadn't mentioned them to him and yet he had worked out these would be beneficial for us, which impressed me that despite not having a background in art galleries was something that he thought would help. He had other ideas in respect to art specifically which were helpful too.
I was impressed with Tony's approach and he is certainly not the sort of consultant that takes your watch and tells you the time, he thinks outside the box and comes with industry proven ideas and adapts them to your particular business and has a wealth of ideas from presentation and display to new product/services and how to promote products and how to engage with customers.
I hope to do more work with him in the spring when I implement the suggested changes"
