But I think that's part of Comet's problem. Yes, they have had issues, including with credit insurers, recently but I believe the problems started a long time ago.
Like the old friend, the one you have lost touch with. I think of myself and my family as their target customers. We use a lot of technology. My son's apartment resembles a mini-Comet at times.
But when did I last hear from Comet? I never get an e-mail, nothing on Twitter, I never find myself on their website. Maybe they advertise in the newspapers, but I never read them - I get my news on BBC and online. Adverts on TV? Everything I watch gets recorded and I view it in my time so I fast forward over adverts.
Retailers need to engage with their customers. I regularly get emailed offers from The Body Shop, Maplins, Lidl, Sainsburys etc. I don't ever remenber signing up to these, but I never stopped them. I don't think Comet got to grips with that- I never receive anything from them.
And now there are new ways of working with the social media and a technology retailer of all places should embrace these. Talk to me on twitter, Comet. Become my friend again. Or are you going to say goodbye forever?
